Lawyer Petitions EFCC, Accuses Ondo Developer Of Fraud

Otunba Ademola Akin Benson, the managing director of Meadville Building Construction Company Limited, is purportedly accused of defrauding a client by a lawyer, Mr. Ola Dan Ola, in a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The Akure-based attorney petitioned the anti-graft commission to detain and question the housing developer, Akin Benson, over allegations that he stole N2 million from his patient, Dr. S. Odedina.

According to the attorney, the developer misled his client into believing that he wanted to offer the client an allotment for model homes in Akure’s Alagbaka Area, the seat of the government for Ondo State.

The petition was provided to our correspondent in Akure. It was titled “Petition against obtaining money under false pretense, fraudulent conversion, economic sabotage, and financial misappropriation” and was dated August 31, 2022.

In the petition, the attorney claimed that his client had left behind some building supplies worth N10 million, which the suspect is said to have taken.

The attorney further claimed that Akin Benson introduced the project to his client in a letter that he (Akin Benson) personally wrote while posing as the managing director of a construction firm that was working with the federal government.
