“I will go for him he’s good more than Nigeria striker” – Joe Cole tells Chelsea owner to sign 25-year-old good finisher striker

Victor Osimhen has fallen off a little bit, and is no longer the striker he once was, according to former Chelsea winger, Joe Cole.

Osimhen has become one of the most wanted forwards across Europe after his 26 league goals helped propel Napoli to the Italian Serie A title last term.

This season, the 25-year-old has managed just eight strikes from 18 matches, even though injuries and international duty have contributed largely to that.

Chelsea, Arsenal and French giants, Paris Saint-Germain are among the clubs reportedly seeking the Nigerian’s signature ahead of the 2024-25 season, but he’ll be hoping that Cole’s recent assessment of him isn’t taken seriously by any of his rumoured suitors.

The Chelsea legend was asked by TNT Sports to name which young striker he feels would become the next big thing in football, and he mentioned the likes of Dusan Vlahovic, Rasmus Hojlund, Darwin Nunez, and Osimhen, but pointed out that the Napoli star hasn’t been the man he was last season.

“I think one or two of them will emerge out of that group,” Cole said. “[Dusan] Vlahovic is very good technically and a good finisher. Darwin Nunez does unbelievably well with his all-round game and he needs to brush up on that side.

“Osimhen was the one this time last year everyone was looking at and then he’s fallen off a little bit. [Rasmus] Hojlund I think he’s got a chance.

“If you’re asking me for one, I’d probably go with Osimhen. He would be the one but I’m going from six month ago not from at the moment. Any of those four could do it.”
