Breaking New: Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino reviewThe nine Chelsea players that will miss the League Cup final vs Liverpool due to injury

Jurgen Klopp makes Chelsea Carabao Cup final promise amid Liverpool injury crisis
Ahead of Chelsea’s Carabao Cup final with Liverpool at the weekend, Jurgen Klopp has made a clear promise to the Blues after seeing his Reds side beat Luton Town

“I don’t even know if these boys can play again, to be honest,” Klopp said on the team he fielded against Luton. “The situation is not great, absolutely not. I’m so happy the kids came on and played. I’m so happy that I could give them that opportunity, it’s nice, the boys deserve it.

“We have a lot of super important games coming up and we go day by day, we don’t know. I can’t say anything about it. But after Brentford I had no clue that the situation would be like what it is now.

Let’s see. There’s one phrase that stands: As long as we have 11, we will go for it. That is all I can promise.”

For Chelsea, they are continuing to assess Carney Chukwuemeka (ankle) and Thiago Silva (groin) ahead of Sunday’s massive clash with Liverpool. Chukwuemeka twisted his ankle in training last week and missed the trip to Manchester City on Saturday evening.

Silva, meanwhile, was taken off in the win at Crystal Palace after tweaking his groin and was ruled out of the draw in Manchester. There was no sign of neither Chukwuemeka or Silva as the squad trained at a wet Cobham on Wednesday.

The Blues are still without a hefty chunk of players, with most of them being long-term absentees. Benoit Badiashile, Marc Cucurella, Wesley Fofana, Reece James, Romeo Lavia and Lesley Ugochukwu are all ruled out of the weekend’s final.
