Manchester United desperately need to improve their midfield department after losing Mason Mount to a hamstring injury this month.

The Red Devils have been after Sofyan Amrabat and reports in the media indicate that his move to Old Trafford is now close.

According to Football Insider, Man Utd have achieved a breakthrough in the deal and the Moroccan international is set to undergo medical examination to complete the move.

The news source have mentioned that the deal is believed to be close after ‘late-night developments’. Fiorentina have been demanding a fee of £30million for their prized asset.

However, reports in the Italian media indicate the asking fee has now significantly dropped as the transfer saga has dragged on for far too long, they want a quick solution.

As per today’s version of Corriere dello Sport, the Viola agreed a deal worth over £17million (20 million euros plus bonuses) to sell Amrabat to Nottingham Forest.

However, the 27-year-old has rejected the chance to join the Tricky Trees. Now, the same £17million+ deal is being discussed with Manchester United.

If the deal is completed, it would be the bargain of the summer because Amrabat is one of the best play breakers around and he was without doubt the best holding midfielder at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar last year.

Let’s hope Man Utd can get the deal over the line before the transfer deadline ends tomorrow at 11 p.m.
