Manchester United are set to complete a deal for defender Sergio Reguilon imminently.

The loan deal has come together quickly over the past few hours. The Athletic reported earlier today that Manchester United had shelved a deal for Marc Cucurella and switched to sign Sergio Reguilon instead.

Reguilon is set to join Manchester United on a season long loan, however, Manchester United can cancel this in January, Fabrizio Romano reports.

United have been looking for experienced cover at left-back with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia injured.

Fabrizio Romano reports: “Sergio Reguilon to Manchester United, here we go! Verbal agreement in place with Tottenham on loan deal

“#MUFC Understand medical tests are taking place right now! There will be clause to break loan deal in January. Marc Cucurella deal, OFF.”

Reguilon was given permission to undergo a medical earlier today and according to Romano, this is ongoing right now.

United will be on course to announce a deal with plenty of time to spare on transfer deadline day.

Sergio Reguilon needs to be registered by midday on Friday with the Premier League in order to make Manchester United’s squad to face Arsenal this weekend.

Erik ten Hag would like to have the option to call on Reguilon on Sunday, which is why United are acting with particular haste to get this deal done as soon as possible.
