“I love to Join Chelsea” – Fabrizio Romano says striker with more goals than games this season has chosen Chelsea over European club

Fabrizio Romano has stated that one player has decided he would rather join up with Chelsea than complete an already-agreed transfer elsewhere.

He took to Twitter to state that Ibrahim Hafiz Umar has chosen to take on a trial at Cobham as appose to a move to join FK Bodo/Glimt on a permanent basis.

It was reported early yesterday that the Blues were looking forward to Umar joining up with the squad for what was likely to be a two-week trial.

Sterling convinces Umar to join Chelsea
This was seemingly off the work of Raheem Sterling, who was credited with doing a lot of the work in convincing him Stamford Bridge was the place to be.

It appears to have done the trick too, with Romano claiming that he had selected a trial over a move to a side who were recently competing in Europe.

He said: “Nigerian striker Ibrahim Hafiz Umar (18) has decided for trial at Chelsea instead of joining FK Bodø/Glimt despite club-to-club deal done for €500k.

“It will be up to Chelsea now, as Hafiz will be on trial for next weeks from Ojodu City Academy.”

Umar chose Chelsea trial over Bodo/Glimt
Bodo/Glimt were recently seen taking part in the Europa Conference League, where they went out to Ajax despite a strong effort against them.

While the quality of Umar is largely unknown, he has performed at a high level in his limited minutes.

He has 10 goals in six games for Ojodu City, and is surely ready for the tests that come with a move to Europe.

It has not been uncommon for the Blues to make a move for a young player before they are picked up by fellow elite sides.

This has been the case for the likes of Kendry Paez, Andrey Santos and Deivid Washington, with the latter keen to make an impact at some point this season.
