“If he join Chelsea he will later worth £70m” – Chelsea legend believe ‘outstanding’ 21-year-old linked with Chelsea could eventually be worth £70m

Chelsea have shown their hand in the last few windows by mainly targeting young players to remould the squad at Stamford Bridge, but the current state of the market means they’ve coughed up a fortune recruiting so many future stars.

A lot of the speculation in the transfer rumour mill does point towards them carrying on this trend in future windows, too.

The Blues are currently linked with a 21-year-old star at a Premier League rival that’s now being quoted a huge value.

So, could Mauricio Pochettino’s side be about to splash another large sum on a rising star?

Nottingham Forest defender Murillo, 21, is linked with a potential move to west London.

The Daily Mail claimed earlier this week that Chelsea are among the group of top clubs currently monitoring Forest’s Murrilo as a possible transfer target. Newcastle United, Liverpool, Arsenal,Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain admire the young centre-back as well.

The left-footed central defender is having an impressive individual season at the City Ground, albeit his team are in the thick of a relegation scrap.

Now, The Telegraph has explained that Forest are under no pressure to sell key players such as Murillo or Morgan Gibbs-White on the cheap despite issues with the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Apparently, the Reds will adopt a firm stance over Murillo’s future amid growing interest going into the summer. They will demand at least £50 million for his sale.

The report adds that Forest think the Brazilian centre-half may eventually be worth as much as £70 million.

Chelsea already have a £70m defender so forget Murillo

First of all, we do think Murillo’s got massive potential and looks the part this year in the top division.

Speaking via Monday Night Football last month (19 February), Jamie Carragher described Murillo as “outstanding” for his performances this season.

However, we don’t think Chelsea need to step up interest in him.

A lot has gone into assembling the Blues defence in recent times. Let’s remember there’s still a £70 million Wesley Fofana (BBC) to come back from injury.

If the club insist on a new defender this summer, we’d prefer someone cheaper and a bit more experienced.
