“Sterling message to fans” – Raheem Sterling sends ‘brilliant’ message to Chelsea fans

Raheem Sterling has held his hands up and apologised to Chelsea fans following his side’s victory over Leicester.

The Blues secured a 4-2 victory against the Foxes in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Saturday – but it wasn’t all as rosy for the home side as the scoreline suggests.

Sterling in particular had a tough time, missing a penalty and also firing a free-kick well over the goal and into the stand, with the latter move leading to boos from a section of the home fans.

Leicester lost defender Callum Doyle after he was sent off in the 73rd minute for clipping Nicolas Jackson in the box with him clean through on goal.

The Blues managed to advantage of the depleted Foxes and scored two late goals in added time through Carney Chukwuemeka and Noni Madueke – who had just come on for Sterling – to seal the Blues’ spot in the semi-final.

Sterling didn’t shy away from his errors as he celebrated his side getting into the next round on his Instagram after the game.

“Wembley Bound,” he wrote under the snaps of him during the match. “To all the Chelsea fans, apologies for the penalty miss.

“I’ll be back 10x stronger to help the team win and continue to keep fighting or the badge every single day.

Now, Sterling’s teammates have been rallying around him on social media too.

Chelsea star Cole Palmer wrote under Sterling’s post: “My brother. S*** happens no need to apologise gg.”

Ben Chilwell also sent his support, writing: “It’s football, it happens. We all appreciate you brother.”

Chukwuemeka, Jackson, Enzo Fernandez, Thiago Silva, Reece James, Robert Sanchez and Trevoh Chalobah were among the other Chelsea players in the comments sending him love.

The Blues will now face Manchester City in the semi-finals of the FA Cup on April 20.

Meanwhile, other semi-finalists Coventry City took down Wolves with a dramatic last minute winner to seal a historic tie against Manchester United.
