Manchester United have moved ahead of the chasing pack in the race to sign Nice defender, Jean-Clair Todibo.

The French defender is a man in-demand heading into the January window and has plenty of interest over in England.

Tottenham have been tracking him for some time and in recent days, Chelsea have also expressed an interest in the 23-year-old.

However, according to journalist Rudy Galetti, it’s now looking like Manchester United could be Todibo’s next club.

Manchester United lead race for Jean-Clair Todibo

Taking to his X account on social media, journalist Galetti offered up the latest on Todibo.

In a post, he states how Nice are open to selling the defender for around £52m and that while Chelsea have asked for information, it is United who lead the charge.

Of course, Nice are linked to new United part-owner Jim Ratcliffe and any deal would be easy to do.

Whether or not Erik ten Hag wants him, is another matter. There has been a power struggle at Old Trafford for some time over signings and it Ten Hag has been backed to spend big on a couple of flops such as Antony.

Todibo better be good

Given the amount of interest in Todibo, there is already a pressure on him to do the business when he does eventually sign.

Clearly, there is a player in there and that’s why so many teams want to sign him. But coming in mid-season and for big money will be tough for the young defender.

Manchester United are obviously a club looking to get their house in order and Ratcliffe will want to show he can spend this winter.

Todibo will be a smart first signing. But he’ll need to play well from the off and United fans will be keen to see just how good he is.
