BREAKING NEWS: Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is set to Terminate 21 years old Player after refusing to sign new contract with the Club.

Chelsea want to sell Ian Maatsen permanently in the January transfer window.

Ian Maatsen is attracting plenty of loan interest, according to 90min, but the outlet claims that Chelsea have made it clear that they will only sell him.

Their report also states that the club have failed to agree a new contract with the defender, explaining why they want to offload him.

Maatsen’s deal expires in 2025, meaning that Chelsea are at risk of losing him on a free transfer if they cannot get him to sign an extension, which has proven to be the case so far.

One club that the 21-year-old has been linked to is Borussia Dortmund.

Chelsea to sell Ian Maatsen permanently
Because of his contract situation and the fact that he is not playing right now, Chelsea selling Maatsen looks inevitable.

The left-back has not started one game in the Premier League this season, with Mauricio Pochettino preferring Levi Colwill, Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella over him.

Chelsea have had a lot of problems in the full-back positions in the current campaign, yet Maatsen has still barely got a look-in.

It would now be a shock if the Dutchman remained at Stamford Bridge beyond the January transfer window.

And even if he wanted to stay, with his contract running down, the club would probably still force him out. Chelsea’s current regime is pretty strict when it comes to this.

Mason Mount, for example, was sold during the summer after entering the final year of his deal. The England international was one of the club’s most important players, but that did not stop them from selling him.

It will be no different for Maatsen, who, understandably, looks fully against the idea of signing an extension after being snubbed all season by Pochettino. He is now bound to leave west London.
