Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that he has already decided his team for tomorrow’s game – and there’s perhaps a hint in his words that Moises Caicedo won’t be in the team.

The Chelsea boss explained that the last player to return from international duty was Caicedo, who only got back today from South America where he played two games with Ecuador.

Going by Pochettino’s selections over the last two international breaks – he rested one of his two South American central midfield stars after each – we think it’s highly likely that Caicedo gets a break tomorrow.

“Today was the last one [to return], Moises Caicedo, Now we need to assess. They already know the starting XI for tomorrow, I’m not going to make public. All arrive in a normal condition. Already picked the starting XI,” Pochettino said.

There’s no way he’s going to be thrown into the action at St James’ Park tomorrow afternoon little over 24 hours after flying across the world. We saw Enzo Fernandez really struggle against Bournemouth back in September after he was used in similar circumstances, and we think Pochettino will have learned his lesson from that game.

Enzo himself is probably doubtful too, but given Caicedo will miss out and Enzo got an extra day in the UK, we reckon Pochettino will risk using the Argentine but not the Ecuadorian.
