Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that one first team player is now ready to face Newcastle in the Premier League tomorrow.

He claimed in his pre-match press conference that Levi Colwill has recovered from the injury that kept him out of the last match against Manchester City.

Colwill eventually pulled out of the international break after being selected by England to represent his country.

He was suffering from a shoulder injury which interrupted his run of starting every Premier League game so far this season.

The 20-year-old has been a fantastic addition to the squad this season after spending the prior campaign on loan at Brighton, helping them to qualify for the Europa League.

Now, Pochettino has claimed he looks set to return to action in some capacity for tomorrow’s game at St. James’ Park.

Colwill ready to play
He said: “Colwill yes [is fit]. Lavia and Nkunku still out.

“No, it’s difficult to assess them. They are in a good condition. Nkunku a little ahead of Lavia. Doing things with the group last week, still not full recovery.”

It remains to be seen though whether Pochettino decides to throw him straight back into the starting line-up, and which position that ends up being him.

Colwill has split his minutes this season playing both left-back and his more natural central defensive position.

Thiago Silva is almost certainly going to start at the back, leaving just one place for a number of options to fight for tomorrow.

This includes Benoit Badiashile, who has continued to step up his recovery from injury during the international break.

At left-back, he will likely be battling Marc Cucurella for a place in the side after he has enjoyed a great return to form this season.
