Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is not currently a target for Chelsea.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist recently stated on Substack that “I’m told” Chelsea have no interest in Aaron Ramsdale.

The Blues have been heavily linked with the goalkeeper, who has lost his place in the Arsenal team to David Raya.

Last month, TEAMtalk claimed that it would cost £60m to get Ramsdale out of the Emirates.

Chelsea not interested in Aaron Ramsdale
If Chelsea are not interested in Ramsdale, as Romano is claiming, one reason is probably Robert Sanchez.

The club only signed the 25-year-old from Brighton & Hove Albion during the summer and he has done a decent job between the sticks for his new side.

According the FBref, Sanchez has one of the highest save percentages in the Premier League this season, 73.2%. That is actually higher than Raya’s (72.2%), the man who has been deemed good enough to replace Ramsdale.

Ultimately, we do not think it makes much sense replacing Sanchez in January. Chelsea should wait until the end of the campaign before looking at the goalkeeper position again.

And if Sanchez keeps playing the way he has been until May, then there honestly will not be a reason for the Blues to dip into the transfer market for a new shot-stopper.

Has the Spaniard been faultless since joining Chelsea? No. He made a huge mistake in the 2-2 draw with Ramsdale’s Arsenal side last month, which proved to be the catalyst for their comeback. But in this day and age, what keeper does not make the odd passing mistake? It happens when you are instructed to constantly play out from the back.

The above alone certainly does not warrant Sanchez losing his position as No.1 in the team. Replacing him in January would be harsh.
