Gary Neville predicts Chelsea vs Manchester City with a surprise scoreline

Gary Neville shares his score prediction for when Chelsea face Man City on Sunday

Gary Neville has predicted Chelsea to do well this weekend when they host Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea face Man City on Sunday afternoon in their final Premier League game before the international break.

The Blues go into the weekend fresh off winning 4-1 away to Tottenham on Monday night, which should give a lift to the players inside the dressing room.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side now sit 10th in the league looking up the division.

As for Man City, they’re back on top of the league table and currently on a five-game winning run across all competitions.

Gary Neville prediction
Interestingly, Neville does think Chelsea can continue their recent trend of doing well against the sides at the top end of the league. He’s gone with a surprise 1-1 score prediction.

“I think Chelsea will do alright in the game. Chelsea in a couple of games I have seen at Stamford Bridge have done alright against big teams. I think Chelsea will do a lot better than you’re thinking. [Raheem] Sterling, [Nicolas] Jackson, Cole Palmer. They have solidity in midfield,” Neville told The Overlap.

They are a handful for big clubs at Stamford Bridge. They are better than they are obviously. Sometimes they are just a waste of time. But against Arsenal they were really good, against Liverpool they were really good. I’ll go 1-1.”

Chelsea and Manchester City match-winners
First of all, you can look across the entire Man City squad to pick out star names. We’ll mention the likes of Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku and Bernardo Silva as a few of the in-form players right now at the Etihad Stadium.

Hopefully, Pochettino can set out his Blues backline to defend tight and smart.

For Chelsea, they do possess some attacking threats of their own. In particular, Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer are two players with some extra motivation going into the weekend.

Sterling and Palmer, two of Chelsea’s best players this season, both joined from Man City. Most of the team’s good forward play is coming through the English pair.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano said on YouTube earlier this week that Chelsea believe that they’ve got themselves a huge bargain with Palmer’s signing from Man City. Can he add some extra salt into the wound this Sunday?
