Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo has broken his silence after Lionel Messi has won his eighth Ballon d’Or.
Messi is now three prestigious awards above Cristiano Ronaldo after scooping up a record eighth last night in the capital of France.
The two footballing icons have had an ongoing feud over the years as to who is ultimately better – which may have been put to bed over the last couple of seasons, with Messi still thriving.
But last night’s Ballon d’Or victory for the Argentine must have rubbed Ronaldo up the wrong way.
Cristiano Ronaldo responds to Messi winning Ballon’ d’Or
The Portuguese forward wasn’t even present at the awards to watch Messi win, but a social media post today depicts he certainly wasn’t happy with the result.
In a post from Asteltelevision on Instagram, journalist Tomas Roncero analyzed Leo Messi’s eighth Ballon d’Or – Ronaldo responded with four laughing emojis.
This indicates he was not happy with the result, deeming it, well – laughable. The comment has since been deleted.
Piers Morgan backs up Ronaldo
Naturally, wherever Cristiano sways – Piers Morgan will follow.
He took to X to back up his beloved forward, with the following message:
‘Messi preposterously winning the Ballon d’Or this year is yet more proof that the whole ‘Golden Ball’ system is rigged. He should have won 2 fewer, @Cristiano should have won 2 more, and Haaland should have won this year. End.’
Wonder why he’s said that? We can agree Erling Haaland should have been in with a shot, but Messi conquered the world. A true footballing fairytale. He deserves to bow out with this final award.
