Mauricio Pochettino has been told that Chelsea will have a brand new signing by the time January 2024 rolls around. The Blues were very busy over the summer with well over £200million spent and recouped through arrivals and departures with Kai Havertz as the marquee exit and Moises Caicedo as the big-money signing.

Several transfer decisions made by Chelsea were with the future in mind, however Caicedo has joined the likes of Robert Sanchez, Cole Palmer, Axel Disasi and Nicolas Jackson as a key member of the senior team so far this season. Considering there was such a significant squad rebuild done over the summer, alongside a new manager coming, Chelsea did not get off to the best start with three defeats in their opening six Premier League games.

Last season, injuries severely affected the Blues and despite a mass overhaul also being done behind the scenes, numerous muscular issues have still been suffered. Ben Chilwell was the latest to be stricken down with a problem likely to keep him out for two months, while Benoit Badiashile, Reece James and Romeo Lavia have all suffered either a new injury or setback while in training.

Summer signing Christopher Nkunku is also on the injury list after he suffered a significant knee injury in the pre-season friendly against Borussia Dortmund. The Frenchman has posted numerous updates on his recovery with the latest showing more intense work in the gym as he build strength back up in his knee.

Despite the positive clips, it is unlikely Chelsea supporters will see Nkunku back in action until the New Year. Thankfully, the likes of Raheem Sterling, Palmer and Jackson are beginning to find the back of the net more regularly, and, as per journalist Ben Jacobs, adding Nkunku into that mix will almost certainly feel like a new signing has arrived given he is yet to play a competitive game for the Blues.

“Chelsea have got players who are capable of scoring goals regularly, and the win against Burnley was a good example of that in many ways,” he told GIVEMESPORT. “Raheem Sterling was outstanding. Nicolas Jackson came off the bench and scored. Armando Broja was fit to start the game and, even though he didn’t score, he is another option for Pochettino. It all looks a little bit healthier.

“When you add Nkunku to the mix, Chelsea suddenly have got a little bit of depth and quality. Nkunku is going to feel like a brand new signing to Chelsea. He is effectively a brand new signing for Chelsea because he picked up his injury so early and in the pre-season period.”
