Arsenal transfer news: There is work left to do for Mikel Arteta in the transfer market this week after their £200million+ spending spree

For the next week, Arsenal and Mikel Arteta will direct their focus on the latter stages of the summer transfer window.

The face of the Gunners’ squad has not altered much from last season, with the core group of players remaining the same. Declan Rice’s club-record arrival – worth £105million – from West Ham is the standout signing whilst Kai Havertz and Jurrien TImber arrived from Chelsea and Ajax respectively.

In terms of outgoings, Granit Xhaka and Matt Turner are the only first-team players to leave. Auston Trusty’s short-lived time in north London came to an end for Sheffield United and Marquinhos will spend the season on loan at Nantes.

More business is certain to be completed in the next five days. There is expectation that players will leave the club to raise the funds necessary for Edu Gaspar to possibly complete another deal.

Folarin Balogun is nearing his long-awaited exit, football.london understands, and is said to have undergone his medical tests this weekend ahead of his permanent move to Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco. The striker will bring in just over £38million to Arsenal’s budget and will finally get the chance to become a first-choice striker.

Left-back Kieran Tierney is also closing in on leaving the club. The Scottish international is set to complete a loan move to Real Sociedad and was pictured in Spain on Saturday upon his arrival. It is also understood that the Spanish side will cover 100 percent of Tierney’s £100,000-per-week wages.

Those exits could begin a domino effect in Arsenal’s hopes of selling more of their players surplus to requirement. The club are also open to offers for Nuno Tavares, Cedric Soares, Rob Holding, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nicolas Pepe – players who have all lost their place in Arteta’s side.

One player who fans will be hoping to have more clarity over this week is Gabriel Magalhaes. The Brazilian has not started a single Premier League game this season and has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia. Arteta has persisted with his stance that the defender is part of his plans, but actions speak louder than words.

Away from players leaving the club, there is scope of another player through the door. Timber’s long-term injury has resulted in various defenders being linked in recent weeks. Benjamin Pavard has told Bayern Munich of his desire to leave the club, leaving Arsenal on red-alert and Torino centre-back Perr Schuurs is said to have attracted interest.

Options elsewhere seem to be very limited, even more so after the Gunners’ chances of signing Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus were left dead and buried. Barcelona duo Ansu Fati and Raphinha have been names mentioned throughout the window, but with little time remaining and Barca expected to demand a near-impossible fee, a deal for either seems very unlikely.
