Alhaji Shafi Mobolaji Shittu, Nigeria’s first indigenous manufacturer of lace materials, is dead, POLITICS NIGERIA reports.

His death, which occurred on Saturday, came exactly 10 weeks after the death of his first wife, Alhaja Sidikat Abeni Shittu, who died at 88; and almost 10 years after the demise of his blood brother and business partner, Alhaji Sulaimon Ademola Shittu. Alhaji Shafi Shittu died after a brief illness at the weekend, aged 90.

Both Shafi and Sulaimon, natives of Aiyepe and princes of the Agbonmagbe Royal Family of Idowa-Ijebu, got a track each from the late ace Sakara maestro, Yusufu Olatunji, in his Volumes 31 and 32 Albums respectively.

Late Prince Shafi Shittu was the first Baba Adinni of Aiyepe in Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria.

He was buried on Sunday at his residence in Aiyepe, Ijebu, Ogun State.

Reacting to the entrepreneur’s death, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun wrote on his official Facebook page on Sunday: “This evening, we commiserated with the people and Muslim community of Aiyepe in Odogbolu over the demise of the Baba Adeen of Aiyepe, Alhaji Shafiu Shittu.

“The late entrepreneur lived a purposeful and meaningful life as a righteous and respected man in the Muslim community. May God grant the repose of his soul.”
