Fabrizio Romano now gives update on Mauricio Pochettino job at Chelsea

Insider Fabrizio Romano has now given an update on the future of Mauricio Pochettino as the manager of Chelsea.

He told CaughtOffside that his information suggests that there has been pressure on the Argentine since last month, with there being a demand for better results.

Talk has continued again of Pochettino being on the chopping block after failing to break his trophy duck in England over the weekend

His Chelsea side were defeated in heartbreaking fashion by Liverpool in the EFL Cup final at Wembley, with his tactics towards the end of the game raising some eyebrows in the media.

It has already been claimed that the Blues are monitoring potential candidates to take over from the Argentine, looking both home and away for the right figure.

Now, Romano has given his own update on the situation the club are currently in.

Romano on Pochettino future
He said: “Pressure (on Pochettino) has been there since the end of January – Chelsea want better results so pressure remains there but the priority has always been to finish the season with Pochettino and then assess the situation ahead of the summer transfer window.

“I think this would not have been an easy job for any manager; it’s a young squad and they need time to perform and create proper group. But of course, football is a results game and so pressure remains there.”

It has been reported recently that there are some at the club who are still long-term admirers of Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim.

There may be an appetite to bring him in due to one of the players in his current squad being one of the top striker targets for the Blues right now.

Viktor Gyokeres is one of the names on their list, and has a great relationship with the boss right now.
