Chelsea news as former captain John Terry highlighted has given his verdict on some of the current crop of players Mauricio Pochettino can utilise

“Pochettino need to stop start Jackson, and stop benching mudryk”

Former Chelsea captain and club legend John Terry has named three players that Mauricio Pochettino must rely upon as his side look to climb the Premier League table.

The Blues suffered a rocky start to the season where they’ve been hampered with injuries and poor results – losses to Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and West Ham meant much of the early period of the campaign has been spent languishing in the bottom half of the table.

However, the side has seen somewhat of a resurgence since the start of September – a Carabao Cup win over Brighton has appeared to catapult Pochettino’s men into action-mode. Since then, they’ve lost just one of their last eight and have taken five points from a possible nine against three of the top four teams in the league.

Whilst the 2-2 draw against rivals Arsenal might’ve felt like a loss at the time given their late comeback, the result itself proved that the Blues could go toe-to-toe with the best in the league while still undergoing a huge shift internally. That was again realised in the 4-1 win over Tottenham which saw the first hattrick for Nicolas Jackson and saw the Blues finally jump into the top half of the table.

Then it was time to face the reigning champions Manchester City but confidence was high in the Cobham camp, Pochettino before the match claiming that they wouldn’t think of themselves as underdogs going into the contest and they certainly didn’t play like it.

A dramatic contest ensued, which finished in a 4-4 draw only secured via a last minute penalty from Cole Palmer who has taken the Blues dressing room by storm in recent weeks. The star has scored four goals in his last five, with his performances even landing himself his senior England debut earlier this week.

When asked about who he’s been looking out for on the pitch the most, Terry immediately pointed out the summer signing as an exciting talent to watch for the future. At an event which was posted on X, he said: “First of all, Cole Palmer definitely.

“I think what I love about Cole is that from the very first penalty he took, he walked right up and took the ball. For a young player to do that at a top football club like ours, it shows big personality.

“He’s been phenomenal. I think Raheem [Sterling] is amazing and I’ve played against him before and he’s an absolute nightmare. He’s been really exciting but for me, I love watching Thiago [Silva].”
