Alan Shearer says Mauricio Pochettino was going ‘berserk’ at £39m Chelsea player during cup final

Alan Shearer spotted that Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino was furious with Axel Disasi for one moment during Sunday’s Carabao Cup defeat against Liverpool.

The Blues suffered a crushing loss this afternoon during the League Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

Eventually, Vigril van Dijk’s goal late in the second-half of extra-time gifted Liverpool a 1-0 win and the domestic trophy.

For the Blues, they’ll look back on so many glorious opportunities to score that they waste during 120 minutes of football.

It’s now six straight losses for Chelsea in domestic cup finals. Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino is waiting to win his first piece of silverware as a manager in this country.

Pundit Alan Shearer claims Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino was fuming with centre-back Axel Disasi for losing possession and gifting Liverpool a great chance to attack them during the second period.

“I just looked at Pochettino’s reaction to Chelsea giving the ball away, I think it was Disasi. He was going absolutely berserk!” Shearer told BBC Radio 5 Live (4:22pm, 25 February).

Axel Disasi yelled at by manager
In fairness, £39m defender Disasi wasn’t the only Chelsea player that had a moment of madness versus Liverpool.

Speaking via Sky Sports on live commentary (3:20pm), Gary Neville criticised Raheem Sterling for wasting one opportunity to score.

All over the pitch Chelsea stars just lacked that extra bit of quality, largely in attack.

It feels like such a wasted opportunity from this Blues squad to win silverware and salvage a season that now looks increasingly poorer.

What felt like a huge chance to be a springboard for this group, has been massively wasted!
