Why Man City review why he refuse to shake Cole Palmer’s hand in tunnel before Chelsea match

Cole Palmer enjoyed another clash against former side Manchester City on Saturday but had to go without a handshake from a member of the reigning champions

One Manchester City player didn’t shake Cole Palmer’s hand in the tunnel before their thrilling clash against Chelsea.

The two Premier League sides went head to head at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday (February 17) where Pep Guardiola’s side were held to a 1-1 draw by the Blues in an action-packed battle.

It was a former Citizen in Raheem Sterling that opened the scoring minutes before half-time in his second goal against the reigning champions this season.

While Mauricio Pochettino’s men looked to be heading towards a colossal victory, they were brutally pegged back by a late strike from Rodri that deflected off Trevoh Chalobah and into the Chelsea net.

While City teased a winner in the final minutes of the game, they were unable to penetrate the Blues’ goal for a second time as they were forced to make do with a point, leaving them four points behind league leaders Liverpool with a game in hand.

While there was plenty of action in the 95 minutes of football in Manchester, there was a potentially tense moment in the tunnel before kick-off as Ederson Moraes was the only starting Man City player not to shake the hand of Cole Palmer, who was making his first return to the Etihad since his £42million move to Chelsea earlier this season.

While waiting for the referee’s cue to make their way onto the pitch, Palmer was greeted by every City starter, enjoying brief cuddles with Erling Haaland and Phil Foden but didn’t receive that same warmth from the Brazil international – but there is a very logical reason for why a handshake didn’t occur.

Luke Littler fans can now buy the 17-year-old’s playing shirt to support him as he continues to demonstrate his talent in the Premier League.

The darts sensation was only 16 when he wowed Alexandra Palace at the World Darts Championship (WDC), despite a final loss to Luke Humphries.

The Nuke will continue playing against seven of the best dart players in the world — Humphries, Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price, Michael Smith, Nathan Aspinall, Rob Cross and Peter Wright — in a mini-tournament in a different city every Thursday until the final in May.

The 21-year-old had only turned around to face the path of the City players once the first player had gone down the tunnel and as that first player was Ederson, the goalkeeper didn’t see the Englishman and as a result, missed out on greeting his former team-mate.

Palmer has impressed in his debut season with Chelsea, leading the side with 10 Premier League goals as well as contributing six assists in the league. The attacking midfielder will be competing in his first final with the club next week as they take on Liverpool in the EFL Cup final next Sunday (February 25).
