It looks as if Chelsea are now going to go through the January transfer without making a permanent addition to their squad.

In what has become unprecedented under new owner Todd Boehly, the Blues seem to be keeping their hands in their pockets when it comes to splashing the cash on the squad.

This could show they are learning from past mistakes, or the fact that the repercussions of spending big in recent windows is catching up with them.

Last summer was another big transfer window for the Blues. They smashed their record fee for Moises Caicedo just months after already doing so for Enzo Fernandez.

As well as that, they made the additions of the likes of Christopher Nkunku, Romeo Lavia and Cole Palmer for big money.

The latter came in after their attempts to sign a right-sided attacker had mostly failed, with Michael Olise being their top target.

Chelsea have to sign Olise

It has been claimed that they are reportedly still interested in a deal, and if that is the case that will only have increased after watching him play last night.

In a home game against Sheffield United, the Frenchman turned in a match-winning performance of the highest quality.

He assisted two first half goals, as well as found the net himself with a brilliant strike after the break.

Goals had been absent from his game on a regular basis until this season, however he seems to have addressed that when he has been fit.

He actually found the net at Stamford Bridge earlier this campaign, however it wasn’t enough to get his side a point.

Chelsea are reportedly going to be rivalled by Manchester United for his signature at the end of the season, however need to do everything they can to get the deal over the line when the opportunity arises.
