Fabrizio Romano has now claimed that one striker who has been linked with a move to Chelsea has now begun training on his own.

He took to YouTube to state that Karim Benzema’s relationship with his club, Al-Ittihad, has taken another bad turn after it emerged that he was looking to leave.

Benzema is reportedly searching for a way back to European football after it appears his venture to Saudi Arabia has not worked out well.

Chelsea have been linked with a move for the Frenchman this month in an attempt to fill the void of a top striker at Stamford Bridge for the rest of the season.

Their number one target for the role on a long-term basis, Victor Osimhen, is reportedly not going to be available until the end of the season.

He has recently signed a new contract with Napoli that includes a release clause, which the Serie A side are reportedly waiting to be activated.

In order to fill the void for the rest of the campaign, the Blues could look to the veteran striker to try and help them out.

Romano has described Benzema’s current situation as ‘very tense’.

He said: “Karim returned to training with Al-Ittihad, he’s regularly training now with the squad but not with the rest of the group, he’s training by himself I am told, he’s training alone, it is a very tense situation between Benzema, people at the club, the manager, they are not happy at all with the current situation.”

With Armando Broja reportedly surplus to requirements if the right offer comes in for the player this month, they could well be certainly looking to a player like Benzema to carry them over, whilst also potentially giving some advice to current striker Nicolas Jackson.
