CHELSEA talent Alex Matos will spend the remainder of the campaign on loan at Championship side Huddersfield Town.

The club have been splashing the cash over the past few transfer windows and adding young players to the side that they hope will develop in the coming seasons and make an impact on the first team.

They have one of the best academies in world football – and there has been quite a few players that have come through the system at Stamford Bridge and broken into the first team.

However – there are also players like Matos, who have shown great potential in the youth system, that have been unable to break into the side and have instead been sent out on loan.

The club  posted on the club website: ‘The 19-year-old joined the Blues from Norwich City in the summer and quickly established himself in Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team squad.

‘Matos, who is capable of playing in midfield or attack, made his Chelsea debut in our victory over Fulham in October and a second appearance came in the Carabao Cup win against Blackburn Rovers.

‘He will now continue his development at Huddersfield, who sit 21st in the Championship.

‘Good luck, Alex!’

The lad is a real talent and it is a shame that he is going out on loan rather than being given more of a chance in the side.

But hopefully this move gives him some valuable minutes.
