All the latest Chelsea transfer news as Mauricio Pochettino’s January transfer wish could be granted thanks to one of his players

Chelsea’s hunt for a new striker in the January transfer window could be assisted by Mykhailo Mudryk. Mauricio Pochettino’s side are set to prioritise a new number nine this winter despite the summer arrivals of Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku.

The Blues have been linked with almost every striker that boasts a decent goalscoring record. From Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen to Viktor Gyokeres and Serhou Guirassy, the list of names is a long one.

However, money talks and clubs know of Chelsea’s desperation for another centre-forward. Osimhen’s new contract at Napoli has a reported £112million release clause inserted while Brentford boss Thomas Frank has hinted that Toney would cost £100million.

Having already spent blockbuster fees on players in the previous three transfer windows, Todd Boehly may be forced to look at alternatives that may cost slightly less. Step up, Artem Dovbyk.

The 26-year-old is part of the Girona side that is competing with Real Madrid and Barcelona at the top of the La Liga table after a sensational first half of the season. This term, the Ukraine international has bagged an impressive 12 goals in 20 games in all competitions – 11 in 17 league games – seeing him linked with a move away.

According to The Sun, Chelsea have been impressed by the striker after his remarkable centre-forward play spearheading a historic season for Girona.

If Chelsea opt to pursue Dovbyk, they can turn to Mudryk, who cost the Blues £88.5million at the start of last year, to help get the deal over the line. As well as being national team teammates for Ukraine, the two players also share the same agent.

ALIK Football Management represents Mudryk and Dovbyk, as well as a portfolio of Ukraine players. As has become clear in recent years, the work of agents in transfers is stronger than ever and Boehly may turn to Mudryk to muster a deal.
