BREAKING NEWS: Fabrizio Romano has announced that a deal has been striked between Chelsea, and Real Madrid, The Blues were open to offering captain Reece James and he confirm the deal is done Chelsea offer club captain Reece James in exchange to sign Real Madrid superstar

Real Madrid need to bring in long-term reinforcements in a number of positions. One of them is right-back. Dani Carvajal is 31 years of age and while he has done well this season, there is no genuine back-up for him. Lucas Vazquez is his cover option but has often been criticised by the fans for his performances. Nacho is another player who can fill in if the situation calls for it.

It would be ideal if Real Madrid sign a right-back in the near future who can be Carvajal’s long-term replacement. And one player they have been constantly linked with is Reece James of Chelsea.

Chelsea made James their captain this season. But he has continued to struggle with injuries and recently underwent surgery.

In the past, it has looked like the club were not ready to part ways with their captain. But now, it seems that a swap deal might do the trick. As reported by Defensa Central (via GOAL), Chelsea will agree to part ways with James if Real Madrid offer Federico Valverde in exchange.

Chelsea ready to offer James in swap deal for Real Madrid player
On top form, James is one of the best right-backs in world football. But, making any move for him would be risky, considering his long injury history.

James has struggled to remain on the pitch for any considerable length of time. Now, it remains to be seen if things improve for him on the injury front after undergoing surgery.

It would not make much sense for Real Madrid to offer Valverde in a swap deal for James though. The Uruguayan midfielder is a nailed-on starter in Carlo Ancelotti’s side and a reliable performer, who rarely gets injury. The club need for players like him to stay at Santiago Bernabeu for years to come.
