BREAKING NEWS: Former Chelsea FLOP Manager has meet with Manchester United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe over Erig Ten Hag replacement.

United’s season suffered another seismic blow midweek as they crashed out of the Champions League after defeat at home to Bayern Munich. The result saw United finish bottom of their group, meaning they also miss out on Europa League qualification.

The Manchester club have already lost 12 of their 24 games this season having been booed off the pitch following a dismal 3-0 defeat at home to Bournemouth on Saturday. A daunting trip to Liverpool – where they lost 7-0 last season – looms large this weekend.

Reports on Wednesday claimed ten Hag’s position remains safe for now with there currently no appetite for a change in the dugout under the current regime.

The Sun report Potter is likely to come in and replace the Dutchman should a change be made, with Ratcliffe already meeting with the former Chelsea boss to discuss the move.

Potter has not managed a club since being sacked by the Blues in April after less than a season in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Ratcliffe has previously tried to bring in Potter at Nice with the 48-year-old waiting for a major job opportunity to come up having turned down the Sweden national team job and an approach from Stoke City.

Ten Hag led United to a third place finish and the Carabao Cup in his first season in charge but has struggled this season.

His side currently sit sixth in the Premier League, just six points behind defending champions Manchester City, but head to Anfield this weekend out of form and without a number of key players.

With Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez and Mason Mount among those still sidelined, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw are also doubts after limping off in the defeat to Bayern.

Bruno Fernandes will also miss the trip to Merseyside through suspension.
