Some players come in and out of fashion, and there was never a player more in fashion than Alphonso Davies a couple of years ago. He tore apart Frank Lampard’s Chelsea in the Champions League, and was the hottest youngster around at the time.
Since then things have slowed down for him, and he’s not quite the hot property he was then – but according to Caughtoffside he’s back on our radar as a transfer target now.
The 23 year old has plateaued a little at Bayern Munich, and one would understand Chelsea being keen to test the German club’s resolve with a bid.
We need more power at left back if we’re starting to doubt that Ben Chilwell will ever make it through a season fit, and Davies is a potentially brilliant fit opposite Reece James.
Marc Cucurella and Ian Maatsen are both in the squad currently, but it’s easy to see a scenario where both have left and Chilwell needs a top class alternative.
