Fot all intents and purposes, Hakim Ziyech is no longer a Chelsea player, but at least for this season, he’s still technically just on loan at Galatasaray, so we can lead Tuesday’s international wrap-up with him, since he did score a goal for Morocco — even if it was a rather comical one that he hit from practically another zip code, but the goalkeeper somehow whiffed on it. Ah, the beautiful game.

Still, it’s nice to see Ziyech getting a bit lucky after rotting on the Chelsea bench for all that time and then having his new season at his new club affected by a couple injuries — limited to just 400 minutes (5 starts) in all competitions so far.

Galatasaray have an option (they claim) or an obligation (we claim) to make Ziyech’s move permanent at the end of the season, so hopefully he has better luck from now on.

Elsewhere on Tuesday, Nicolas Jackson featured again for Senegal, but again was kept off the scoresheet, while Axel Disasi got a late cameo in France’s meaningless Euro 2024 qualifier against Greece.

And Noni Madueke got a few more minutes on the international stage — where he seems to be getting most of his minutes these days — logging the full-90 for England U21 in their 3-0 win over Northern Ireland.
