“He’s now the best” – Club president says attacker Chelsea let go in the summer is now ‘one of the best’ players in Europe
Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has now claimed that Joao Felix is one of the best players in Europe.
He told COPE that the player Chelsea had on loan last season does have an opportunity to join Barcelona permanently once his current loan deal comes to an end.
This was a far cry from what happened during his half season loan at Stamford Bridge which came to an end over the summer.
He only found the net a handful of times in the Premier League, despite showing plenty of glimpses of the talent world football knows is somewhere inside of him.
Cerezo praises Felix
When his loan came to the end, it emerged that Mauricio Pochettino was not keen on building a team around him, instead preferring to use Christopher Nkunku in that role.
That decision is yet to be proven right or wrong, with the Frenchman currently yet to make his debut following an injury suffered in pre-season.
Now, Atletico president Cerezo has claimed that he has the quality to be one of the best players in Europe.
He said: “João Félix will be one of the best players in Europe, I wish him all the best at Barça.
“He’s on loan there but if Barça want to sign João on permanent deal, they’ll have an option to make it happen for sure. Otherwise, he will return.”
Felix is enjoying his time on loan at the Nou Camp, after making it clear that the move was somewhat of a dream of his.
It has already been claimed that he is playing on a far lower wage there, which will make it interesting at the end of the season if he commits his future to the Catalan club on a long-term basis.
