Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt has now confirmed that he is looking to sign Thiago Silva at the end of the season.

He told TNT Sports that his desire is to sign the player back for one of the sides he enjoyed success with earlier in his career.

Silva is expected to be coming to the end of his career at the top level, although he is certainly leaving his mark this season at Stamford Bridge.

He has played every Premier League game so far this season, something that manager Mauricio Pochettino was almost certainly going to be hoping was not the case.

There are a number of top young defenders at Chelsea right now, however injuries have stopped them being able to build form and play on a regular basis.

This has included Benoit Badiashile, who is yet to start in the Premier League this season. He could be considered though for the weekend against Manchester City though.

Silva wanted by Fluminense
Silva will almost certainly be present again though for that game, with his importance not lost on the manager.

However, his future is likely away from Stamford Bridge. Now, Bittencourt has claimed that his intentions are to bring him in when his contract comes to an end at the club.

He said: “I continue with this desire to bring him in. For the brilliant player he is, for his high performance at his age. That he’s a great Tricolor. I’m sure that one day he could play for Fluminense again.”

If this is his last campaign in England, the younger players at the club will be looking to soak up as much knowledge as possible from the veteran due to his experience in the game.

This will be crucial for the growth in the likes of Badiashile, Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana as they look to nail down a place for future years.
