Aston Villa supporters told Mauricio Pochettino that he will be ‘sacked in the morning’ during the Villans’ clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon. Ollie Watkins guided Unai Emery’s side to a 1-0 win over the Blues, scoring his first Premier League goal of the season.

Heading into the clash, Mauricio Pochettino was under pressure to lead Chelsea back to winning ways following disappointing results against Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth. Steve Cooper’s side snatched all three-points from the west Londoners just before the international break before the Cherries held the Blues to a goalless draw two-weeks later.

Ahead of the Villa fixture, Pochettino was asked if he’s been frustrated with Chelsea’s performances recently. The 51-year-old replied: “I am not frustrated because I think the team is performing well. We cannot complain about the performance of the team missing many key players.

I am disappointed because I think many teams with less score more. That is why we feel bad. The players deserve more. The only way to find what we want is to keep pushing, keep playing, keep doing the right things, replicate it again.

“I am so happy with how the team feel after Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest, they really care about the club, they really care to win the games, they really care to perform better and I think this week was good to work hard and create good moments every day to translate into competition.”

Then, Pochettino was asked how Boehly feels about Chelsea’s poor results and whether he’s spoken to the American billionaire. The former Tottenham boss said: “We talk but also with sporting director we are in contact, they are supporting the project. They are not disappointed because I think we share some ideas about the performances.”

While Boehly may be supportive of the project Pochettino is conducting at Stamford Bridge, the travelling Villa fans certainly made their feelings known about the Chelsea boss and warned him that he will be sacked. The Blues co-owner now has a decision to make – stick or twist…
