Tottenham have a huge London derby clash with Chelsea around the corner, with the hopes of reclaiming top spot in the Premier League

Tottenham have dropped a potential early team news hint ahead of their huge London derby clash with Chelsea on Monday night. It comes as new boss Ange Postecoglou looks to continue his side’s impressive start to the season by reclaiming top spot in the Premier League.

The head coach has had his fair share of difficulties in the first few months which included losing the club’s all-time top scorer as well as trimming the squad. However, in such a short space of time, the Australian has managed to completely transform Spurs into a whole new team.

An attacking style of play has been implemented, which has been a far cry from the football his predecessors played and has got the fans on board with the project. Even the most optimistic of those couldn’t predict such a successful start though, with eight wins and two draws from the opening ten games.

A win on Monday will see them return to the top of the league, with all of their rivals having played earlier in the weekend with some favourable results. In Chelsea, the Lilywhites face a challenge that may be far tougher than the matchup suggests when looking at it on paper.

Former boss Mauricio Pochettino has taken a young squad and started to build the foundations for what he hopes will be a successful future. The results haven’t quite come yet though, with the Blues sitting mid-table, but Postecoglou is very aware of the threat they can possess.

On the run ahead, the manager told the press: “It’s just part of the challenge [the run of fixtures coming]. And again you can list those games and you can think about them collectively or you can just concentrate on the biggest challenge for us, which is Chelsea on Monday night.

“All those things take care of themselves if you deal with the day to day process. It’s really important for us, and I’ve emphasised this to the players, to stay in the present. For us what’s worked really well so far is the players come in everyday and want to improve and work hard and tackle every game with a really strong mindset of wanting to overcome whatever challenge we have, and there’s no one who’s thinking beyond Monday night because that’s our most important task right now.”

There will be some big decisions to be made over the team selection too, but the club may have hinted at an early decision from the manager. That being a graphic for the Chelsea clash focusing on full-back Pedro Porro, suggesting that he could play on the right flank on Monday.

That isn’t a guarantee, however, due to the fact that players in the past have featured but may not start, but it could hint at the lineup. It remains to be seen exactly which decision Postecoglou will go with, however there is a huge chance for the side to continue their good form and top the table once more.
