Chelsea take on Blackburn in the EFL Cup tonight, and once again it’s Nicolas Jackson up top.

The striker is once again under pressure as his struggle to score consistently goes on, and Mauricio Pochettino knows this is a good chance for him to try and grab a couple to get the Stamford Bridge fans off his back. Whether he does or not, it’s fair to say he’s not bringing the goal threat we hoped for.

A great option on the market to do just that might be Ivan Toney, but reports tonight claim that Brentford want £100m for their talismanic striker – and won’t consider a deal until next summer.

Even this free spending Chelsea will likely consider that too steep – plus they need alternatives and action long before the summer, unless they want to write off a second consecutive season.

Unless things change significantly, we may have to get used to seeing Jackson toil up top.
