Chelsea are prepared to break their own transfer policy to try sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

That is according to a report from The Evening Standard.

They explain that Chelsea’s owners, who are spearheaded by Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, could rip up their strategy of signing mostly players under the age of 25.

It is understood that Ivan Toney, 27, is now one of the club’s main forward targets.

The report says that Chelsea and Arsenal are the front-runners to sign the Brentford star in the January transfer window.

In addition, the Bees are willing to sell the English frontman if their £80million asking price is met.

Chelsea have change of heart
There’s a lot to admire about the numerous talented youngsters to arrive at Chelsea across the past year, but you can tell by looking around the dressing room there’s a lack of leaders and experience. It’s showing itself on the pitch, too!
