Simply disrespectful’: 20-year-old Chelsea loanee slammed after what he’s just done

Former Union Berlin player Torsten Mattuschka has criticised Chelsea loanee David Datro Fofana.

David Datro Fofana refused to shake manager Urs Fischer’s hand after being substituted in Union Berlin’s Champions League defeat to Napoli on Tuesday.

And Mattuschka, speaking to Sky Germany, thinks the striker deserves his suspension after his disrespectful act. As reported by AP, he has been banned by the club for a week.

It has been a difficult loan spell for David Datro Fofana so far, with the 20-year-old yet to score a goal for Union Berlin.

Mattuschka does not think a fine would have been enough for Fofana.

David Datro Fofana frustrated at Union Berlin
Fofana looks a bit annoyed at Union Berlin right now, which is understandable.

Again, the Ivorian is not scoring goals. He is struggling. Even so, what happened with Fischer is obviously not a good look.

However, Fofana has since issued a public apology on Instagram and it is important to remember that he is still just 20.

There is no dressing up the fact that this loan spell in Germany is not going to plan, though. Fofana looks far from being ready for Chelsea’s first team.

Honestly, it is amazing that Graham Potter handed him a start in the Premier League last season when he had Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang available to him.

Next season, the Ivory Coast international is probably going to need another loan and hopefully it goes better than his current one.

Of course, there are still a lot of games left in this campaign. Fofana has more than enough time to turn things around. If the former Molde man cannot, though, then Chelsea will surely have to send him on another loan next season if they are not planning to already.
