Reports over the last couple of days have linked Chelsea with a move for Barcelona midfielder Gavi.

It has been claimed that the Blues may be handed the opportunity to sign the youngster after it became clear that Barcelona may need to sell in order to settle their financial woes.

Chelsea have been linked to Gavi in the past, with them even reportedly holding a meeting with a representative of the youngster to assess the scenario.

It has also been claimed that manager Mauricio Pochettino is going to have a lot of say over any potential signings at the club following his impressive start to life at the club.

He may well therefore be intrigued by the addition of Gavi, given the fact he has already claimed he is a massive fan of the player.

He told AS: “He is a tremendous talent, without limit. He is a young boy who has to continue learning, but with the generosity and humility that he has on the field he will surely do it.

“Travel 13 kilometers! He is the one who travels the most in the games. That speaks of his character, of what we may see in the future.

Pochettino a huge fan of Gavi
“Football is not about running, but if you have the ability to do it you can improve and use space better.”

It is fair to say that players that have a high work-rate can become favourites under Pochettino.

This has been shown by Conor Gallagher, who is an ever-present as a starter in the Premier League this season.

The England international has even captained the side a number of times this season, beginning to stand out in a midfield that contains Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo.
