However, Phillips has stated on his Substack that the 26-year-old is “no longer a target” for his former club.

Abraham left Chelsea for Roma back in 2021, but an article from The Athletic claims that the Blues have the option to re-sign their former striker for £69m thanks to a buy-back clause.

It does not look like an avenue that they are going to go down, though.

Chelsea no longer considering Tammy Abraham

While Abraham did seem to be someone who Chelsea were looking at, as Phillips has reported, it is clear that they have other priorities.

The Blues continue to be heavily linked with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, though a deal in January could be difficult.

If Chelsea can land the Nigerian, though, he would obviously be an excellent addition to their squad. He is a real goalscorer, which is what Mauricio Pochettino needs right now.

In 111 appearances for Napoli, Osimhen has found the back of the net on 65 occasions

According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea are ready to go all out to land the 24-year-old’s signature. He looks to be one of the strikers who the Blues have at the top of their list rather than Abraham.

We do not think Abraham would be a terrible signing for Pochettino’s side. The England international has proven that he can do it in the Premier League.

Back in the 2019/20 season, he scored 15 goals in 34 top-flight outings. If Chelsea cannot sign Osimhen or Ivan Toney, who is also of interest to the club, then Abraham could be a good alternative.

For now, though, it does not look like Abraham is a target, making a Stamford Bridge homecoming unlikely.
