Chelsea could make a move for AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan in January.

That is according to a report from Calciomercatoweb.

The Italian outlet claims that Chelsea want to invest heavily in the winter transfer window and have put Mike Maignan at the top of their wish list.

It is not the first time there has been talk about the Blues being interested in the 28-year-old.

During the summer, the Evening Standard reported that Chelsea looked at signing Maignan but baulked at AC Milan’s £80m price tag.

The club brought in Robert Sanchez instead, but the former Brighton & Hove Albion man has come in for a bit of criticism after his mistake against Arsenal last weekend.

Mike Maignan now a top transfer target for Chelsea?
Honestly, it is amazing that Chelsea are being linked with more than one goalkeeper right now, having only just signed Sanchez.

While Calciomercatoweb‘s report states that Maignan is at the top of the Blues’ wish list, TEAMtalk has claimed that there is also interest in Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale.

Do they have doubts about Sanchez? Did they have some to begin with? Even if so, we cannot see Maignan being a top target for the club just yet.

Chelsea will surely want to give their current No.1 a bit more time given that he has not been at the club for long, while they probably have bigger issues in their squad to deal with.

The striker position, for example, has been a problem for the Blues for a while now. They have not had a centre-forward who has been able to score 20 goals in a single Premier League season since Diego Costa. The former Chelsea star left Stamford Bridge six years ago.

Before going out and spending more money of another goalkeeper, that ought to be addressed first.
