Mykhailo Mudryk sends Chelsea message amid injury concerns after first goal vs Fulham
Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk finally scored his first goal for the club on Monday, putting an end to his drought since joining in January.

Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk has praised the fans for their support following his first goal for the club in a win over Fulham on Monday night. It comes after the Ukrainian international has faced pressure in the aftermath of his big money transfer in January from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Up to £88million was paid for the winger, who had impressed in his short career so far, with some huge goals in the Champions League. A deal to Arsenal appeared to be on the cards – as football.london understands they had made several bids – but it was the Blues who completed a remarkable swoop.

Mudryk was paraded around Stamford Bridge, a sign of the ambition laid out by the new ownership in their hopes of running a team that will win at the very top level. While the 22-year-old showed promising spells, his end product was often missing as the west London side stumbled to a mid-table finish.

The introduction of new head coach Mauricio Pochettino gave some hope of a chance at a fresh slate, but Mudryk was dropped for the first few games. His return to the side has seen increasingly impressive performances, with Monday’s clash with Fulham finally seeing him rewarded for his perseverance.

Levi Colwill’s pass found the forward, who chested the ball and unleashed a strike that went beyond Bernd Leno and added that first goal to his tally at the club. It’s a huge moment that could well underpin the season ahead and beyond, with confidence sited as a huge factor.

There are concerns over the fitness of Mudryk after the game though, after he had to withdraw at half-time due to a potential injury. “I hope Misha [Mudryk] is not a big issue because he feel something in his quad at the end of the first half and hopefully he arrives on Saturday,” Pochettino told the press after the game.

The goal scorer himself took to Instagram after the game with a message to the fans, saying: “With You all I can. Great team performance +3 [points] 1 [goal]. Big honor to score my first goal for such a big club like a Chelsea. Thanks our fans for big support.”

It remains to be seen how he will kick on from his latest performance, but there will be hopes that he can start to show the quality expected of his big move.
