Gabby Agbonlahor has told Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino to start picking Ben Chilwell in the starting line-up.

Ben Chilwell, 26, has been the first-choice left-back at Stamford Bridge in recent years whenever available.

However, the England international has lost that role in the early months of Mauricio Pochettino’s reign as head coach.

We’ve seen Levi Colwill, who many view as a centre-back, play as the preferred left-back. Meanwhile, Chilwell has occupied positions higher up the pitch as a winger when he’s featured.

TalkSPORT pundit Agbonlahor is adamant vice-captain Chilwell should be in Chelsea’s side in the full-back spot.

In addition, he’s suggested Pochettino may be trying to mirror Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola by playing centre-backs across the whole back four, something that has worked well at the Etihad Stadium.

“Start playing Chilwell left-back. You’re leaving Chilwell on the bench and playing Colwill. Are you trying to copy Pep with centre-halves at full-back?” Pochettino told talkSPORT.

We fully agree that Chilwell needs to be reinstated in this Chelsea XI.

The £50million (Sky Sports) left-back will bring a much greater balance to the side in his usual role.

As for Colwill, the 20-year-old is far more suited in a centre-back position and we should see the best from him in that role.

The Blues defence is something that we do like and there’s certainly a foundation to build on with a few tweaks. Pochettino’s biggest dilemma is the attack and scoring goals, though.
