Argentine defender Nicolas Tagliafico is unhappy with Lyon after they blocked his departure to Manchester United this week, according to Foot Mercato.

The Red Devils are currently on the search for a new left-back following injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. Both of them could be sidelined until November.

The club have looked at different names including Tagliafico, Sergio Reguilion and Marcos Alonso but as things stand, they are progressing with talks for Marc Cucurella.

Cucurella has given the green light for a move to Old Trafford, but United still need to find an agreement with the Blues. There are differences over the loan fee.

It is now reported by Foot Mercato that Tagliafico isn’t the happiest at Lyon after the French outfit turned down a ‘very nice offer’ from the Red Devils to sign him.

There is also some sort of ‘cold anger’ within the squad, having seen two of their best prospects in Castello Lukeba and Bradley Barcola leave this summer.

Lukeba joined Leipzig earlier in the transfer window while Barcola is on his way to Paris Saint-Germain for a medical following an agreement over a fee yesterday.

Tagliafico denied reunion with Erik ten Hag
The Argentine was a key player for United manager Erik ten Hag when they were together at Ajax. He was keen on a reunion, but Les Gones turned down the proposal.

Tagliafico has played 90 minutes in the first three games of the new season for the French club, and they seem reluctant to lose him with little time left to land a replacement.

The World Cup winner could have easily adapted to Ten Hag’s playing style. The Red Devils are now focusing on securing a temporary deal for Cucurella instead.

United recently offered £2m to sign the Spaniard on loan, but the Blues want £7m.

A middle ground could be reached as the left-back is out-of-favour for the league games under Mauricio Pochettino. Cucurella will be Cup-tied for the Carabao Cup.
