Manchester United desperately need to reinforce their left back position with both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia out injured.

If reports in the media are anything to go by then the Red Devils are looking at a number of options to improve the defense and one of them is Marc Cucurella.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Man Utd have moved in and held talks with Chelsea over the transfer of the Spanish international.

The renowned Italian journalist stated:

“One player Man United have enquired about is Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella. There is a chance that the player will leave Stamford Bridge before the transfer window shuts and United are one club interested, although there is nothing concrete yet.”

On his X account, Romano revealed that the Old Trafford club have asked for conditions to complete a possible loan deal.

The La Roja left back proved to be a hit in the Premier League for Brighton under Graham Potter. He made 35 appearances in the 2021-22 league campaign and helped the Seagulls keep 10 clean sheets.

Last year, Potter joined Chelsea and opted to splash £60million to hire the services of Cucurella (The Athletic). However, he failed to impress and spent the last couple of months on the treatment table.

This term, new manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has utilized a three at the back formation and stand-in captain, Chilwell, has started in the left wing-back role.

The £9.1million a year defender has only warmed the bench and has not even featured for a single minute under the Argentine boss. So, he must leave the London side to play regular first team football.
