Arsenal transfer news: The Gunners aren’t finished just yet in the transfer market as they look for the missing pieces to mount a title charge

Following the opening weekend of Premier League action, Arsenal still look to be willing to dip into the transfer market despite having an already successful venture over the summer.

Manager Mikel Arteta will be happy with the business that bought the likes of Kai Havertz, David Raya and Declan Rice for a whopping £100m to the Emirates Stadium but losing a vital piece of their puzzle in Jurrien Timber to a long-term knee injury just 49 minutes into his debut has meant they’ll be looking for a replacement.

After shoring up their midfield and attack over the preseason, it’s once again the defence where many of the holes lie for the Gunners. With the club still looking to offload the likes of Kieran Tierney, it’ll be imperative for them to find solutions, and find them quickly.

With reports suggesting that they’re a few moves away from being truly capable of challenging Manchester City for the Premier League title, takes a look at the latest transfer odds from SkyBet to see who the bookmakers think Arsenal will make a move for in the final weeks of the window.

Benjamin Pavard – 6/1

Following Timber’s injury over the weekend, Pavard has become a top target for the Gunners. According to reports, the Frenchman is dissatisfied with his role at Bayern Munich and could be set on a move to the Premier League. However, Serie A giants Inter Milan are currently favourites to secure his services with odds of 8/11 following their £21m bid earlier this week.

Aymeric Laporte – 8/1

The Manchester City defender has won five Premier League titles under Pep Guardiola as both a left-back and a centre-back but the Gunners would no doubt utilise his experience as a full-back to replace Timber. They will face heavy competition however, with reports suggesting that Laporte could be the next player to head over to the Saudi Pro League after the Citizens accepted an offer from Al Nassr earlier this week.

Douglas Luiz – 8/1

A transfer target from over a year ago, Arsenal could go back in for Douglas Luiz who has shone for Aston Villa over the past few campaigns. Having had three offers rejected by Unai Emery’s side last year, the Brazilian international in the final 12 months of his contract and could find a new home in the form of the Gunners.

Joao Cancelo – 8/1

Following Joao Cancelo’s high-profile loan move away from Manchester City in the middle of their last campaign after losing his place to Nathan Ake and Rico Lewis, Arsenal have been linked with a surprise move for the star – although he’s almost certain to head to La Liga to sign for Barcelona with their odds of landing the Portuguese international at 1/12.

Aurelien Tchouameni – 16/1

One of the brightest young stars in world football, Tchouameni paired with Declan Rice in an Arsenal midfield is something fans might’ve thought they’d be dreaming of come this time last year. However, it’s certainly in the realms of possibility given the 23-year-old has been constantly linked with moves away from Real Madrid this summer. Premier League rivals Liverpool are by far the favourites to sign the star though, with odds of 5/2.

Nicolo Barella – 20/1

Another player linked with moves across Europe, Barella almost capped off a magical season with Inter Milan by completing the double but just missed out on the Champions League trophy in the final. Now he’s being discussed within Premier League circles and Arsenal are one of those teams. Liverpool and Newcastle are leading the race for him though with odds at 3/1 and 9/2 respectively.

Joshua Kimmich – 25/1

It was revealed earlier on in the summer that Bayern no longer see Kimmich as ‘unsellable’, meaning a whole hosts of teams on the lookout for a new central midfielder were linked to the German – Arsenal included. Ultimately though, the Gunners have the highest odds of any team on SkyBet to land the 28-year-old with Liverpool favourites at 7/1.

Kalvin Phillips – 33/1

After spending a lot of last season out with injuries and only playing a full 90 minutes twice in the Premier League for Manchester City, Kalvin Phillips is likely to stay on with the Citizens but there have been reports linking him with a move away. Both Arsenal and Bayern Munich are priced at 33/1 while Liverpool and West Ham are the favourites with 5/1 and 16/1 odds respectively.

Ollie Watkins – 33/1

The Aston Villa star fired in 15 goals last season in what was his highest goal tally since playing in the Premier League. That caught the attention of some top clubs, including the likes of Arsenal’s North London rivals Tottenham (7/1) who are in need of a striker since the exit of Harry Kane.

Paul Pogba – 33/1

Only playing a combined 161 minutes for Juventus in his return season, Pogba’s start to life back in Serie A has been marred by recurring muscle injuries. A move away doesn’t make too much sense, which is why odds for him to leave are incredibly high but Arsenal are listed as a potential candidate at 33/1.

Victor Osimhen – 33/1

The star of the show for Napoli in their title-winning season last year, Victor Osimhen has spent all summer being linked with a move away from Italy. All the big players are at the table for his signature – Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United and even teams in the Saudi Pro League. Arsenal, meanwhile, have focused efforts elsewhere but still remain in with a shout at 33/1.

Dusan Vlahovic – 40/1

Once Arsenal’s priority target, the excitement for a move for Serbian starlet Dusan Vlahovic has dimmed significantly enough to see them be priced up at odds of 40/1. While bookmakers believe he’s likely to stay at Juventus, odds have shortened for Spurs at 3/1 and Chelsea at 5/1 over the window.

Kylian Mbappe – 50/1

The Kylian Mbappe saga might finally be over. It seems like in every window, something happens within the club that makes him want to leave before he comes to his senses and realises he’s being paid around a £1m per week. Media and supporters were dumbfounded when the biggest contract in the history of the sport was offered to both him and PSG by Saudi club Al Hilal earlier in the window but it appears he’ll be staying in Paris for now.

Marco Verratti – 66/1

Long linked with a move to the Premier League, Verratti is now set to join former teammate Neymar in Saudi Arabia if the bookmakers have it right with odds of 1/2. Chelsea are the next team other than PSG with odds of 10/1.
