Mikel Arteta confirmed to the media ahead of Arsenal’s match against Nottingham Forest the return of Jorginho and the latest on Gabriel Jesus’ return.

Mikel Arteta faced the media ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Nottingham Forest knowing that the Gunners head into the first Premier League game of the season needing to get off to the best possible start.

Arteta was asked regarding the situation with his players having missed Jorginho for the Community Shield. The Italian international was missing with a slight muscle problem but the Arsenal manager provided an upbeat response.

“Yeah I think everyone is available,” Arteta said. “We have Mo [Elneny] out, we have Gabriel Jesus with a knee injury but the rest should be fine.”

Pressed on Gabriel Jesus, the Spaniard was optimistic but grounded in his response. Arteta pointed out the timeframe since the procedure.

“It’s a bit early still. Less than two weeks since the operation. Hopefully he can start to do some stuff next week

“He’s doing really well to be fair. But it’s something we’re going to be cautious and make sure he comes back in the right way.”

Gabriel Jesus was asked by football.london how his recovery was progressing after the Community Shield win over Man City. The Brazilian replied: “Good, good.”

It seems he remains some time away from a starting role, and Arteta has Kai Havertz, Eddie Nketiah and Leandro Trossard as options. All three have shown positive displays and have made their claims for the role and we will find out the result on Saturday.
