Arsenal are interested in signing Dinamo Zagreb centre-back Josip Sutalo, according to Corriere dello Sport (page 16).

The Gunners have already reinforced the backline with Jurrien Timber this summer. The Dutchman is a central defender by trade, but manager Mikel Arteta clearly views him as a full-back option.

It is now reported that the north London giants are exploring a deal for Sutalo. Zagreb have already received an offer of €15 million from Fiorentina for him, but are now looking for more.

With the fresh interest from the Gunners, Zagreb want €25m including add-ons for the 23-year-old.

ARSENAL EYEING CENTRE-BACK AMID POSSIBLE EXITS

The Gunners currently have adequate central defensive options in the first-team squad, but there could be a couple of departures in the forthcoming weeks.

Auston Trusty is on the radar of Sheffield United and could join them in the near future. Meanwhile, Rob Holding has also been touted to head for the exit door.

This could see the club invest on another centre-back with Arteta considering Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Timber as full-back choices next term.

Sutalo is a strong ball-playing defender with an impressive aerial presence. He has also caught the eye with his intercepting skills and ability to clear his lines.

Aside from Fiorentina, Ajax and Napoli are also in the mix to sign the Croatian star, but Arsenal are nonetheless trying to prise him away from Zagreb first.

He won’t be a starter for them in the Premier League or Champions League games, but would provide adequate cover and may feature in the Cup competitions.
