Declan Rice is on the verge of tying up his record-breaking transfer from West Ham to Arsenal and will undergo a medical with the Gunners today
Declan Rice will have his Arsenal medical today (Friday) as his £105m transfer inches closer to completion.
After leading West Ham to Europa Conference League glory, the England midfielder is on the verge of completing his British transfer record move to the Emirates. Arsenal will pay the Hammers £100m, which is reportedly being spread across two years, with another £5m potentially following in add-ons.
The deal represents a club record fee, eclipsing the £72m the Gunners paid Lille for Nicholas Pepe in 2019. After personal terms were agreed weeks ago, Rice is now set for his medical, which should be a formality for the 24-year-old middleman.
The medical continues a busy week for Arsenal, who have seen Granit Xhaka complete his move to Bayer Leverkusen for a deal worth around €25million (£21.5m).
The Swiss midfielder had decided to leave the club before Mikel Arteta was appointed but was convinced to stay and played all but one Premier League game last season, scoring seven goals from midfield, including two on the final day of the campaign.
Speaking about Xhaka, Arteta enthused about the 30-year-old, saying: “We are saying goodbye to a fantastic player and person loved by all of us.
“It has been an incredible journey together for him and he has given absolutely everything for this club. The influence Granit has had on his team-mates on the pitch and colleagues at the club, will tell you just how popular he is.

Following the arrival of Kai Havertz from Chelsea and the impending signing of Rice, Ajax full-back Jurrien Timber is the next player who could come through the door as the Gunners prepare for a club-record transfer window outlay.
