Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal remain interested in signing Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo, according to a report.

Journalist Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport that Arsenal still want to sign Joao Cancelo from Manchester City in the summer transfer window despite being busy sorting out other potential deals.

The reporter has claimed that because of Arsenal pushing to get deals done for West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice and Ajax defednder Jurrien Timber, they are not being very active regarding Cancelo at the moment.

Jones has said that Arsenal still want the £180,000-a-week (SalarySport) Portugal international full-back.

Cancelo spent the second half of last season on loan at Bayern Munich and is reportedly available for sale this summer.

Jones said:” Arsenal do still have an eye on Cancelo, but that one has to wait because they have enough on their plate to deal with at the moment.

“This is a big week for Arsenal, with deals for Rice and Jurrien Timber to get over the line.”

Could a summer transfer happen?

In our opinion, Arsenal could be able to sign Joao Cancelo from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

If City, who won the Premier League, the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League last season, are willing to offload the 29-year-old, then Arsenal could be able to sign him if they paid the fee needed.

After all, City sold Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko to the Gunners last summer.

Cancelo himself could be tempted to move to Arsenal.

After all, the Gunners will challenge for the Premier League title in the coming years and will also play in the UEFA Champions League next season.
