Biography of Chris ekpenyong

 

Christopher Stephen Obong Ekpenyong was born on the 29th of September 1954, in Ikot Ukana of Obot Akara local government area, Akwa Ibom. He’s a Nigerian politician and former Deputy governor of Akwa Ibom State.In 2019 He was tagged to the Nigerian Senate to represent Akwa Ibom North- West Senatorial zone

 Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from Akwa Ibom North- West Senatorial District and was anteceded by Godswill akpabio. 

He assumed office as the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State from 1999 – 2005. He’s of the Peoples Democratic Party Nigeria 

 

 He’s married late Grace Ekpenyong 

 On August 19, 2019, he lost his wife Grace Ekpenyong.

                     Education 

 He started his educational trip in 1960, he attendedSt. Patrick’s Primary School, Ikot Ukana before leaving forSt. Michael’s Primary School, Rumuomasi, Port Harcourt where he got his First School Leaving Certificate( FSLC). In 1970, he gained admission to Government Technical College, Port Harcourt and in 1975, he attended Federal Government Technical College, Yaba. In 1977, he attained an Ordinary National Diploma in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering from Federal Polytechnic Bida in 1977. In 1980, Ekpenyong attended The Polytechnic Calabar for a Advanced National Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and finished the program in 1982. 

 

 He attended Kensington University in 1993, Honolulu, Hawaii, United States and attained a degree in Master of Business Administration( Marketing) in 1995. He attained his Croaker of gospel from the same institution. 

 Political career 

 Ekpenyong was the deputy governor in Governor Victor Attah’s term from 1999 until 2005. 

 

 In 2005, he was impeached as the deputy governor of Akwa Ibom state but was snappily returned to the position within seven days. The members of the state house of assembly reversed the indictment after the President Olusegun Obasanjo. But he was latterly advised to abdicate the position. 

 

 In 2019, he was tagged as an assemblyman for Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party beating his closest rival the contestant, Godswill Akpabio of the All Progressive Congress. He entered,215 votes against,158 for Godswill Akpabio. He was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission( INEC) Electoral Officer Peter Ogban. 

 

 On November 9, 2019; the court of Appeal in Calabar, Cross Rivers State, ordered a re-run of the senatorial election in Essien Udim Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State. 

 

 For the Akwa Ibom North- West Senatorial District election, the PDP seeker, Chris Ekpenyong, scored,717 votes to win the former assemblyman, Godswill Akpabio, who had,820 votes, according to the result released Sunday morning by INEC
